For Bruno Le Maire, there is no question of forgetting the Franco-French issues. “It is not because there is a crisis between Ukraine and Russia that we forget to deal with the daily subjects of the French”.
Invited this Wednesday by BFMTV to talk regarding the consequences of the conflict on energy prices, the Minister of the Economy took the opportunity to announce the extension of the ceiling to 38 euros for meal vouchers in restaurants.
“Restaurant tickets are very important for our restaurant friends. We have taken the decision to extend the doubling of the ceiling for restaurant tickets until the summer of 2022, ”said Bruno Le Maire.
Weekend included
The extension concerns expenses in “restaurants only”, specifies a press release from Bercy. The next deadline for reassessing the maintenance of this measure is June 30, 2022.
The measure had been put in place to allow the French to dispose of the money stored during the first confinements and to avoid a shortfall for hotel professionals.
“The decision to extend these derogatory terms responds to the need to continue supporting the catering sector, whose activity remains disrupted by the pandemic,” details the press release from the ministry.
19 euros per day in the supermarket
Another advantage: it will also be possible to use Restaurant Tickets on weekends. The government had announced a first extension of this measure in August 2021 for expiry February 28, 2022.
At the time of its announcement, the measure had been presented by the government as “a powerful tool for reviving the activity of restaurateurs”.
A major challenge since the restaurant ticket market is worth 7 billion euros in France. Nearly four million French employees use Tickets-restaurants.
However, the ceiling remains at €19 per day in supermarkets or food stores. “In food shops, restaurant vouchers are not valid on Sundays and public holidays, unless this indication is clearly specified on the restaurant voucher”, says the government.
