Response to the response to the incident on the beach in Patras: “A boat with lifeguards and a victim was sailing unruly”

There is no purpose and no interest behind the statements he made the president of the Association of Winter Swimmers Maria Oktara in “Monday’s Peloponnese”regarding the incident of the rescue of a bather on the beach of Plaz Patras, where there was assistance from citizens to the two lifeguards who were present and who, in the end, rescued him.

Patras: “Imitation” of the lifeguards for bathing at the beach, new complaint in “P”

Yesterday, at “P”, the person in charge of the Lifesaving Cover of the Municipality of Patreon, Giorgos Bonelis analyzed the data in the reported incident, underlining that everything was done legally and there was no issue from the employees in rescuing bathers, last Saturday. He defended his partners and said, among other things: “As a company we follow exactly what the law says and we are inspected at least once a week by the port authority. Instead of there being praise, saved by bathing, false evidence is circulating that it is unknown what expediency it serves and questions our integrity. I have full confidence in my lifeguards, who are highly trained, tested, certified and licensed. The only thing that happened was that the two lifeguards, after saving the bather in the sea, in their attempt to return, the engine did not start, however the 5 meter boat we have came and took them safely to the shore”.

Maria Oktara

Mrs. Oktara returned to the subject, who spoke to “P” for what was said from the company’s side. In detail, her statement is as follows: “As an eyewitness I described the events as they really happened and had no reason to add or subtract anything. The purposes and interests attributed to me by this particular person do not suit my temperament and my morality. So it would be good for the person in charge who has taken over the lifeguard coverage of Plaz beach, a busy beach, rather than trying to justify the unwarranted, to apologize profusely for the poor performance of his employees’ duties, as well as for any shortcomings and omissions. As for the immediate intervention of the company’s 5-meter boat, it took more than 30-40 minutes and while the small boat with the lifeguards and the victim was sailing unruly and after the citizens had already approached it and proceeded to partially moor it, to tow.

Friendly advice: “We never take a boat if we do not first check the adequacy of petrol, but also the necessary life-saving equipment defined by the current legislation and above all we always wear life jackets. And it is good to always raise a red flag on the Tower, so that the citizens know that the beach at this particular time is uncovered”!
