JAKARTA, COMPASS. TV – The move by the Governor of DKI Jakarta, Anie Baswedan, to witness the spectacular action of the Nidji Band at the Jakarta International Stadium, was interpreted by some as an insult to the General Chairperson of the Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Giring Ganesha.

Anies responded to the harsh criticism, from Giring, by meeting the personnel of the band where Giring had joined as a vocalist.

Executive Director of Charta Politica Yunarto Wijaya assessed that if Anies Baswedan deliberately satirized Giring, then the maneuver to invite Nidji was a smart move.

“If this is intentional in the context of communication, it can be said that it is intelligent. Anies Baswedan used a band that Giring was in in the past and has left to satiate Giring’s criticisms,” Yunarto said in a video statement to KOMPAS.TV, Tuesday (18/1/2022).

This satire, Yunarto said, might be seen from the statement Anies made in his Instagram post.

But on the other hand, Yunarto also criticized Anies Baswedan’s move.

According to him, by replying to Giring’s satire, Anies Baswedan seemed carried away by the narratives of the PSI chairman.

“Why should Anies Baswedan be named a presidential candidate, the governor of DKI Jakarta, and then carried away by the narrative that was made and the criticism made by a party chairman, one comma did not even reach two percent,” said Yunarto.
