ATLANTA, Sept. 07, 2023 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — In a significant collaboration, the Matmerize, Inc.an innovator in material AI, and the Resonac Corporation entered into a strategic partnership with the aim of revolutionizing the 6G technology scenario. Building on the solid collaborative foundation, Resonac will utilize the power of Matmerize’s PolymRize™ AI software technology to accelerate the development of pure materials and exceptional high-performance composites in 6G technology and beyond.

In January 2023, Resonac Corporation announced plans development of new semiconductor materials for 6G, the next generation telecommunications system standard following 5G. With 6G set to be 100 times faster than 5G, new semiconductor materials are needed to substantially reduce the transmission loss associated with increased communication speeds. To meet this requirement, Resonac will identify ideal materials with the required characteristics through computational and Artificial Intelligence (AI) methods in a collaborative venture with Matmerize, Inc. Where manual testing using traditional techniques would require three months to evaluate a material combination, Matmerize’s AI software, PolymRize™, reduces the time required to a single day, being able to evaluate up to 90 combinations in the same three-month period. The result promises to be a fusion of materials engineering and artificial intelligence, ready to redefine the development of 6G technology.

PolymRize™ uses proprietary Matmerize or customer-specific data to create predictive models. Once created, these models quickly predict the properties of new polymers, composites and formulations yet to be synthesized, complete with all their uncertainties. The software employs automated and generative design tools to recommend ideal candidates who meet the property requirements for subsequent rounds of physical experimentation. PolymRize™ thus accelerates the journey to target materials, dramatically reducing time and costs. Furthermore, it introduces a framework for managing and organizing data, making it a reliable digital aid for chemists and process engineers.

In a pilot initiative, Resonac evaluated Matmerize’s capacity. Predictive models were created with PolymRize™ and third-party software with key material properties relevant to 6G technology. Properties included bandgap, dielectric constant, refractive index, glass transition temperature, and coefficient of linear expansion. The performance of PolymRize TM and third-party models was evaluated with proprietary predictions for identical invisible test cases. PolymRize TM predictions consistently outperformed third-party models in speed and accuracy (see figure showing models performance).

About Resonac:
Resonac Group is a new company created as a result of the merger of Showa Denko Group and Showa Denko Materials Group (formerly Hitachi Chemical Group) in January 2023. The Group’s annual sales of semiconductors and electronic materials total regarding 400 billion yen , representing around 30% of the Group’s annual net sales. The Group has a large global presence with semiconductor materials for the packaging process. The integration of the two companies allowed the Resonac Group to design and develop functions of concentrated materials in raw materials. The new trade name “RESONAC” is a combination of two English words, the word “RESONATE” and “C”, the first letter of CHEMISTRY. Resonac Group will make the most of its co-creative platform and accelerate technology innovation with semiconductor, material and equipment manufacturers in and outside Japan.
