The labor dispute which has paralyzed the casinos of Montreal, Charlevoix, Mont-Tremblant and Lac-Leamy as well as Online Games since June 15 had a happy ending on Tuesday.

The approximately 1,700 workers affected by the agreement endorsed by 73% the conciliator’s recommendation ending the strike, following unitary negotiations of the nine units of Intercasinos, according to the Federation of Public Service Employees.

According to this hard-won agreement, workers will be entitled to salary increases of 16% over six years, in addition to the addition of 2% of the bonus and a lump sum of $1,250 to their salary.

“Throughout the conflict, workers from all units remained united,” explained Riccardo Scopelleti, spokesperson for Intercasinos and president of the Montreal casino security unit.

The recommendation of the chief conciliator mandated by the Ministry of Labor was submitted to the general assemblies of striking workers who will return to work in the coming weeks.

“It was the first time that the nine units of Intercasinos negotiated together, an experience which significantly increased our balance of power,” said the vice-president of the FEESP-CSN, Frédéric Brun.

“On the ground, I saw all the solidarity that the workers have developed among themselves, it was an honor for the CSN to support them,” added the president of the CSN, Caroline Senneville.
