Innsbruck (OTS) – “I lived and fulfilled my role as President of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce with heart and soul. However, due to my passion for this issue, I did not always give the necessary space to my role and responsibility as an entrepreneur. Dealing with this situation now requires everyone Strength and concentration. That is why, for personal reasons, I am resigning from my office as President of the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce, my functions in the Tyrolean Economic Association, my office as mayor and as President of the Tyrolean Tennis Association. This decision is also the only right one to protect myself and my family and necessary to approach the task at hand professionally and responsibly.
It was and is my innermost drive to use my know-how, my talents, my energy and my time to ensure that entrepreneurs in our country can do more. The five years of my time as President of the Chamber of Commerce were marked by crises and brief glimmers of hope. It was five years that demanded a lot from our entrepreneurs and their employees, the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce, their officials and employees and myself. And it was five years that left their mark.
Business only works in a team. In the last five years, the team around me has grown beyond itself and made an enormous contribution to overcoming the major challenges of our member companies. At this point I would like to thank Director Evelyn Geiger-Anker and the employees of the Chamber of Commerce, my Vice Presidents Martina Entner, Barbara Thaler, Martin Wetscher, Manfred Pletzer and Anton Rieder as well as the team of department, specialist group and district office representatives , with whom we not only overcame crises together, but also made the Tyrolean Chamber of Commerce itself fit for the future.
My special thanks also go to Franz Hörl, our Economic Association chairman. He is – whether for the Chamber of Commerce or in the Economic Association – a driving force with an eye on the big picture and his commitment has always contributed to strengthening the common course for our location. As group leader, he will ensure that no vacuum is created in the Chamber of Commerce and that the representation of interests continues to function smoothly.
For me, it’s all regarding a clear focus on the next steps that are now necessary. Steps that affect me and my immediate living environment. I therefore ask for your understanding for this decision, which for me is a difficult but all the more important.”
