Grigorijus Snežko, the chairman of the 73rd association of apartment building owners “Viršuliškės”, told BNS that 25 residents of the house voted for it, one objected.

“The solution is to rebuild the house,” he said.

According to G. Snežkos, a contractor will now be sought.

“The contractor has to look, determine for what amount he will be able to do the work,” said the chairman of the association.

According to him, it is not yet clear what the chosen financing model for the works will be.

Vilnius City Municipality proposed in February that the most affected middle part of the house should be dismantled and rebuilt, while the remaining parts of the building would need to be repaired.

The mayor of Vilnius, Valdas Benkunskas, said at the time that it would cost regarding 1.2 million to repair the apartment building damaged by the fire in Viršuliškės. euros.

According to the mayor, the works would be carried out in four stages. First of all, the current structures would be demolished and dismantled, this would take regarding four months and, according to the municipality’s calculations, would cost almost 200 thousand. euros.

The second stage is the reconstruction of the structures, the construction of the roof and ceilings, the initial cost of these works is regarding 620 thousand. euros. The third stage is the connection of engineering networks, which will cost regarding 400 thousand. euros.

V. Benkunskas claimed that the first three stages might be financed with the funds of the municipality, insurance and the Government. The last stage – the reconstruction of the apartments – can be left to the residents to pay for.

Two explosions and a fire in an apartment building in Viršuliškės occurred at the beginning of January, during which two people died – a minor and an adult.

As the municipality announced, 57 residents of the house were left homeless due to the fire, some of them moved to social housing. The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
