Residents of the Itaipu reserve produce and sell gluten- and lactose-free foods

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The production of natural and healthy foods is the hallmark of the residents of the Itabo Natural Reserve, located in the district of Mbaracayú, department of Alto Paraná. One of the producers is Janete Candeia, a resident of the Gleba II community in Mbaracayú, who has turned her passion for healthy eating into a successful business that benefits her family and the local community.

This green space is one of the eight protected areas of Itaipu and is also part of the core zone of the Itaipu Biosphere Reserve (RBI).

Motivated by the search for safe and tasty food options for her children and husband, who are gluten and lactose intolerant, Candeia began producing gluten and lactose-free products less than a year ago. What began as a family need has become a project that offers a wide variety of gluten and lactose-free products, including breads, cakes, pizzas, empanadas, coxinhas and more.

The company is known for using fresh, high-quality ingredients in the production of its products. They prepare the flour mixes themselves, using rice, cassava starch, corn, sweet potato starch and other gluten-free flours.

The entrepreneur explained that the initiative transcended the family environment, becoming a source of well-being for the community. Through her Instagram page “Vida Saudável” and the number 0984-100-757, she offers her products at home or with the option of pick-up.

For Janete, her initiative goes beyond a simple commercial activity. It represents a way to promote healthy eating and provide options to people with food intolerances.

“I started without the intention of selling, now I think regarding the people who can, for example, enjoy a cake or a pizza. That motivates us,” he added.

Their story exemplifies the commitment of many local residents to sustainable development in the region. The history of this family business serves as a source of inspiration for those looking to start a business with a positive impact on their community and the environment.

In this way, the producer demonstrates that the production of healthy food, with quality ingredients and under a sustainable approach, can be a viable and beneficial economic activity for society.
