Residents here will receive stimulus checks of up to $350 million this week

New Yorkers who qualify for the $350 million supplemental payments will receive their stimulus checks this week. In fact, the first round of payments already went out on Monday, August 4, according to Governor Kathy Hochul.

As planned, the state will continue to distribute direct payments this week. It is estimated that 10,000 checks will be sent per day over the next 15 days.

By the end of this month, more than one million eligible families will receive up to $330.00 USD per child. “As New Yorkers begin back-to-school shopping for their children, we are putting some money back into their pockets,” said Hochul.

“My team is making sure these supplemental payments reach all eligible New Yorkers. I will continue to work every day to address the cost of living faced by working parents across our state.”

Who is eligible to receive stimulus checks?

About a month ago, Hochul announced that the state would distribute $350 million in supplemental payments. The recipients would be more than one million low- and moderate-income families.

Families do not have to complete any paperwork to receive this financial aid. Those who qualified for the Empire State Child Tax Credit in 2023 and filed their taxes on time will automatically receive their check in the mail.

This includes married couples who earn $110,000 USD or less and single parents who earn $75,000 USD or less. The same applies to married couples filing separately who earn $55,000 USD or less.

The supplemental payments will range from 25% to 100% of the taxpayer’s child tax credit for last year. You can calculate how much money you will receive under this concept here.
