No news, good news ?
In a month, day for day, Resident Evil Village will celebrate its first anniversary, but for the past few months, it’s been a dead calm around Capcom’s horror franchise. There have indeed been vague hopes around the release of a free DLClast October, or rumorsquickly defused, the arrival of the eighth opus within the Xbox Game Pass, but that’s it. Rest assured, it’s not because the game isn’t much talked regarding anymore that it’s doing badly.
On the contrary, since its release, the latest addition to the Resident Evil franchise has distinguished itself at numerous events, des Golden Joysticks to the DICE Awards Passing by the BAFTAs. If he doesn’t necessarily have to bring back statuettes each time, Capcom reports showed nice earnings generated by this eighth episode.
Those who have completed Ethan Winters’ latest odyssey can’t wait to find out what’s at stake in the ninth installment. However, Capcom is not inclined to disclose information on this subject. So, in the meantime, some of the most curious players go in search of information: a handful come back empty-handed, when others make finds… but on the episode released in May 2021, still far from having revealed all its secrets!
Thanks to Dusk Golem, a developer and great horror lover, also known as AestheticGamer, we learn that many changes were made during the creation of the eighth episode, in particular the swampy area and stronghold of Moreau. Initially, a bit like Lady Dimitrescu and her three daughters, one of the monstrous antagonists of this part might have counted on the help of mythical creatures to hunt down the character of Ethan Winters.
(1/7) I was thinking regarding this, so going to talk regarding it. Moreau’s area RE8 was trimmed a lot, I don’t think I’ve actually sat down & fully explained what I knew regarding Moreau’s swamp area pre it being trimmed, so I think I’ll do so now.

Indeed, our hero might have fought mermaids in this area, especially during the aquatic phases, and witnessed a series of bizarre events and other very suspicious rituals.. Unfortunately, due to a lack of time and funding, Capcom had to make choices and amputate this area of certain content. A sad situation, certainly, but we can thank Capcom for having preserved our hearts by saving us the fear of being taken into the abyss by a group of diabolical sirens!
