The rumors were finally founded: Capcom is indeed working on a remake of Resident Evil 4 and this one will be released on PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC on March 24, 2023.
Featured in an opening trailer for Thursday’s State of Play, the retelling of the classic horror game seems to be walking in the footsteps of recent remakes of Resident Evil 2 et Resident Evil 3: Nemesiswith fully modernized graphics and mechanics.
Recall that a data leak caused by a cyberattack in 2020 at Capcom had revealed that the title was possibly in development, but the publisher had not then confirmed the rumor. However, it’s now official… with a release date as a bonus!
First released in 2005 on the GameCube, Resident Evil 4 has since had a long and successful career on a variety of consoles: the PS2, PC, Wii, iOS, PS3, Xbox 360, Android, PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and ultimately the Oculus Quest 2, in a VR version. Remastered several times, it is however a first remake in good and due form for the title of Capcom.
It remains to be seen how this new version will be successful and faithful to the original. To see the production quality of the trailer unveiled this Thursday, however, it already promises a lot.
