Resident Evil 4 will be entitled, like its big brothers before it, to a makeover with the upcoming release of Resident Evil 4 Remake. Announced during the last State of Play from Sony, the most popular opus of the license showed itself for the time of a short trailer, between chills and nostalgia. After this announcement, fans have already shared a comparison with the original game which highlights the work done by Capcom.

In the heart of darkness

Resident Evil 4 is undoubtedly one of the most popular titles of the license by fans, and even more widely of the most acclaimed video games of all time. Released for the first time in 2005, the software takes us into the shoes of the famous Leon S. Kennedy deployed in Spain in search of Ashley Graham, the daughter of the President of the United States of America, kidnapped by the mysterious Los Illuminados sect.

Upon its release, the Capcom title met with immense success despite chaotic development, became an unmissable hit on the GameCube and experienced many ports over the years. The game changes for the first time the “classic” formula of the license, abandoning fixed points of view in favor of real-time scenery and from a unique third-person perspective. This point of view will therefore be adopted by the license for most of the following games, until Capcom changes the formula once more with Resident Evil VII and its first person view.

This year, Resident Evil 4 is once once more making headlines with the announcement of its remake. Scheduled for 2023, the game will therefore mark the return of Leon and Ashley to the latest generation consoles and PC. Information that was enough to stir up many fans, who have already viewed in detail the first images shared by Capcom. Some players have also made a comparison between these images and sequences from the original game, which testify to the very enticing work of the development teams.

More beautiful, stronger… scarier?

The first thing that strikes your eyes when you see the images above, it is obviously the immense graphic work that the Capcom teams have accomplished. It is clear that the original opus has taken a lot of old, with monochromatic beige / brown colors and sets not really detailed. The power of the latest machines will therefore allow the Capcom teams to bring a real graphic addition, in order to make us shiver once once more in the middle of the Spanish countryside.

In addition to this logical, but still significant, graphic improvement, there are also several elements from the trailer that allow us to speculate on the content of this remake. First of all, we note that several new sequences appear in this trailer, like the discussion between the president and Leon. This remake should therefore bring new story elementsanother welcome point for a game that originally suffered from some shortcomings at this level.

Several characters will return, such as Ada, which has also undergone some design changes. Finally, we see in particular a sequence where Ashley is alone, with a third-person shot that suggests that the character would be playable during certain sequences. Ashley is another downside of this opus, which required constant attention during the action phases, and quickly became annoying. So we hope that on this side too, Capcom will succeed in making this character more engaging.

Resident Evil 4 Remake is slated for March 24, 2023 on PC, Xbox Series, and PS5.
