Al-Marsad newspaper: A study conducted by Harvard University experts, and its results were published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, revealed that excessive consumption of sugary soft drinks leads to an increased risk of rectal cancer.
According to the “Novosti” website, the researchers studied data on the health status of more than 120,000 participants, and studied the relationship between rectal cancer incidence and mortality, as well as patients’ intake of fructose sugar and sugar-containing drinks.
Scientists said that drinking sugary drinks affects the development of cancer in the upper and middle part of the rectum, so people who used to drink soft drinks containing sugar in childhood, and currently do not take them should not worry, because this effect is observed during the last ten years.
They noted that rectal cancer is not the only disease caused by sugary soft drinks. Because these drinks also cause liver and pancreatic diseases and endometrial cancer.
