Researchers find rainbow fish in Maldivian waters

Mali | The ocean proves time and once more that it is a storehouse of wonders. The oceans are home to some of the world’s most endangered species. The news of the discovery of a fish that surprised viewers from the ocean has now gone viral on social media. Seven-colored rainbow fish were found in the Indian Ocean off the coast of the Maldives.

The researchers found the fish in the rainforest below sunlight. The scientific name of the fish is ‘Cyrillabrus finifenma’. The pink color, which is predominant in fish, is behind this name. The Pink Rose, the national flower of the Maldives, is locally known as Finifenma. The study of fish has been published in the scientific journal Sookies. The study was led by Ahmed Najeeb, a researcher in the Maldives.
