“Research before speaking”. How things are –

Anna Maria Bernini eliminates Elly Schlein. The Minister of University and Research responds in kind to the secretary of the Democratic Party on the issue of student accommodation with a message on X, the former Twitter: “I would like to give Elly Schlein an affectionate suggestion. That of reading up before speaking. It is a consolidated method for those who care about seriousness. If he documented himself, he would discover that on housing the mayors of the Democratic Party are not participating in the Pnrr tender. We have done our duty, the money is there and the bureaucratic constraints have been loosened. It’s a shame that the Municipalities are not submitting applications. Neither from Rome, nor from Milan, nor from Turin, nor from Naples, nor from Bologna. And not for ideological reasons. Simply because they believe it is more convenient to create beds for other uses. This is the truth. If the secretary of the Democratic Party had the interests of the country and the students at heart – says the Forza Italia senator – she would be here with us to launch an appeal to the mayors to respond to the tenders. Achieving the goal is not a success for one part but for Italy, which invests in students and therefore in its future. Objective to which everyone should contribute. Even, dear Schlein, with a little intellectual honesty.”

Renzi crowns Schlein, Conte (who doesn't want it) is furious

Just today Bernini sent a letter to all the mayors of Italy to involve the Municipalities in the PNRR Housing Notice: “Guaranteeing beds for students means concretely implementing the right to study, a fundamental pillar to allow all young people, regardless of their economic conditions, to build their own future. Offering accessible accommodation does not only mean supporting their educational path, but also promoting a more just and competitive society, in which talent and commitment can really make the difference.”

From rap to cinema? What Schlein escapes on TV: overwhelmed by the League

The letter follows the appeal made in recent days to local authorities and universities due to the limited participation of these entities in the tender. In the text, the Minister highlights the possibility for local authorities to make use of the collaboration of both the commissioner structure established at the MUR and of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti which supports the MUR in managing the tender. “New accommodation for university students does not only mean giving our young people the opportunity to participate in the study path they deem most suitable. It also means investing in our local areas, improving them from a social and economic point of view, increasing their attractiveness thanks to an urban redevelopment action”, adds Bernini, recalling that “the Government, with the renegotiation of the Pnrr, strongly wanted this possibility to be recognized also for the public sector. Therefore, Municipalities and investee companies can also apply”.
