It was really hard⁣ going, but ⁣we worked really well ⁣as a⁣ team, and covered a lot of distance,” she said.“The dogs and us, we are trained to search‌ for long days, so it’s stuff that we’re prepared for, that’s not new to ⁤us, and ‍we are trained​ to do that.”

“For us, it was really vital to be able ⁤to be there and help the family as best we ‌could,⁣ and be able to to use our training to ⁤help them,” explained a search team‍ member. “There was ‍a lot of⁣ family and friends out,‌ and we saw them searching, and we worked in some areas beside them. It ⁢felt like we were able to help ‍them and we have ⁣the extra skill set of the dogs, which makes ⁣a big difference when ​you’re searching.”

Boosting Morale

The team member added that their ⁤presence provided a much-needed‌ boost to⁢ the family during‍ a arduous time:

“If it was my son or my daughter, I would want people out‍ searching. We train every​ week for different types of ‍scenarios. So it was good to​ put​ our training in place, but also show people that we⁣ can do‌ what we are trained to ​do, and also to support the​ family. 
I think it ⁤was a great boost to ⁤them,⁢ and it ‌raised their morale.”

Gary⁤ Pullen, a search technician and medic, highlighted the logistical complexities ‍involved in deploying⁤ the team.

“I’ve⁤ got to thank Iberia‍ Airlines as well for taking​ Rocko out. ‍It was logistically difficult ‌because some ‌of ⁣the team went out via belfast, and we had to come via Dublin. So we‍ need to thank⁤ them for the ‍care they took of us.”

Commitment to Finding Answers

Despite ‍not‍ finding John George,⁤ the team expressed their ​commitment to assisting in future search efforts should they be ‍needed.‍ “We didn’t want to come back at all,” the‍ team member confided. “It’s disappointing for us (not to find anything), ⁢we want to do the ⁣job, and we want to reunite their son with them.
