Rescue Operations Update: Search for Missing People in Mansouriya Building Collapse

The General Directorate of Civil Defense announced in a statement, “On the third day of search and rescue operations and comprehensive field survey in an attempt to find the missing people who were inside the building that collapsed in Mansouriya at 13.45 p.m. last Monday, civil defense personnel were able to… Meanwhile, the body of a female citizen was recovered from under the rubble, so the death toll has reached six female citizens so far, while the survivors who were rescued are four female citizens.”

She pointed out that “three days have passed and Civil Defense members have been working as a restless beehive under the supervision of the Director General of Civil Defense, Raymond Khattar, who has adopted a system of replacing specialized teams in carrying out search and rescue operations. The number of members who have participated in this mission so far has reached approximately 165 members.” From multiple centers from all Lebanese governorates, they worked according to the shift system, in implementation of the recommendations of His Excellency the Minister of Interior and Municipalities, Judge Bassam Mawlawi, who was keen to follow up the progress of operations and verify all developments related to this disaster that struck the Mansourieh region.

She confirmed that “in the same manner, the elements continue their work without stopping, day or night, to find the two missing persons who have not been found so far.”
