Rescue operation: Bergheim: Two injured after a failed turning maneuver at the Gmachl tunnel

Two people were injured in a traffic accident on the L118 in Bergheim late Monday evening.

The accident happened around 10:30 p.m. shortly before the Gmachl tunnel at the entrance to the city of Salzburg. A 56-year-old man from Flachgau was driving his car there and stopped at a bus stop to let a passenger get off there.

When the man turns his car, he may have overlooked the car of a 51-year-old from Salzburg approaching from the direction of Salzburg. There was a head-on collision. Both drivers were taken to the University Hospital in Salzburg by the Red Cross with injuries of an unspecified degree. The Bergheim Volunteer Fire Department was deployed with 53 forces and five vehicles. The first alert mentioned a vehicle fire.
