-In the followingnoon of this Sunday, June 25, intelligence officers from the Bolivarian National Guard (GNB) managed to rescue the Vice Minister of Indigenous Peoples, Marianny Romero, as reported by journalist Jorman Cruz on Twitter.
“GNB intelligence officers managed to rescue Vice Minister Marianny Romero,” Cruz said on his Twitter account.
Romero and his work team were held for 24 hours by the Yukpa community in the El Tokuko basin, Machiques de Perijá municipality, Zulia state.
The vice minister was following instructions from the Minister for Indigenous Peoples, Clara Vidal, to reach an agreement through dialogue. However, the Yukpas had declared that they were not going to let the national authority out of the Sierra de Perijá until they acquired their handicrafts.
