Rescue of Trafficked Venezuelans in Trujillo: PNP’s Operation and Increasing Human Trafficking Cases in Peru

The Peruvian National Police (PNP) rescued this Tuesday in the northern coastal city of Trujillo five Venezuelans, who were forced into prostitution, as well as five of their children who remained in captivity to coerce the women.

“Effects of the Directorate Against Trafficking in Persons and Illicit Smuggling of Migrants, rescued five Venezuelan women and five minors, held in a building in Trujillo and who were forced to provide sexual services,” the PNP reported on networks.

The police operation resulted in the capture of two Venezuelan men, one of them in charge of charging the exploited women, according to the authorities.

The Police explained that the detainee “collected the extortion quotas” under the guise of a home delivery man.

In addition, 967 soles (regarding $265) and a motorcycle were seized from them.

Foreign victims of human trafficking in Peru in the last eight years increased 500%, mainly of Venezuelan origin, according to figures from the NGO CHS Alternativo.
