[Animal News]Community animals without owners, their daily lives are like fighting with death, hanging on the line of life. The dog mother “Xiao Die” has a rough life and is a kind-hearted puppy. Unfortunately, she has never had a home. She has experienced painful experiences such as the death of her children. Recently, she was unfortunately trapped in a trap on Sha Lo Tung Mountain in Tai Po. It was estimated that she was only discovered two days following the injury to her right front foot and was rescued by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. Volunteers later picked up Xiaodie and sent her to a veterinary clinic for treatment. However, one of Xiaodie’s feet was so badly injured that it required amputation. The Hong Kong Cat Rescue Association and volunteer Ms. Wu, who have been following up, cannot bear to see Xiaodie continue to be homeless, and are now looking forward to finding temporary care and adoptive families for Xiaodie.

Xiaodie was originally a community animal in Tuen Mun. She gave birth to 7 dogs B in October 2020. However, due to malnutrition, only 4 dogs B survived. At that time, Xiaodie was hiding in Butterfly Bay Park. When volunteers tried to rescue them, they were blocked by LCSD staff. Fortunately, with the help of District Councilors Huang Hongming and Yan Shaonan of the Hong Kong Association for Democracy and People’s Livelihood, they were able to rescue the dog mother and dog B.

Ms. Wu said that volunteers were eager to find a home for a kind-hearted dog that might be petted. Unfortunately, the Xiangzheng dog farm was full at the time, so they had to arrange for Xiaodie and her dog BB to live temporarily in a Fanling building. She lived in a dog farm, but then the dog BB fell ill, and the volunteers had to take BB to the veterinary clinic. Xiaodie suspected that the dog BB was missing and wanted to find the dog’s child, so she stole it early one morning.

Miss Wu was heartbroken and searched everywhere. After 120 days of searching, she finally found her in Tai Po. The volunteers sterilized her and then released her to live in Sha Lo Tung, Tai Po, and monitored her condition regularly.

Unfortunately, the good times did not last long. Xiaodie was discovered by a hiker a few days ago and was injured by a animal trap. Her right front foot was caught in the trap. The injury was very serious. She was later rescued by the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. In response to this newspaper, the AIDS Association stated that the dog’s right forelimb was caught in a trap, and the injured area was bleeding and swollen, and the injury was quite serious. The AICP inspector then sent the dog to the AICP Tsing Yi Center for inspection and the dog owner took it back.

Linda, the founder of the Hong Kong Cat and Dog Rescue Association, said that the association had picked up Xiaodie from the CAS and took her to the veterinarian. However, the veterinarian said that the injury to Xiaodie’s right front foot was too serious and had to be amputated, and the operation has been completed. Linda described Xiaodie’s “pain to the point of epilepsy” following the operation, which was very pitiful. She didn’t want Xiaodie to live a wandering life anymore, and it was difficult for the disabled Xiaodie to survive outdoors. Plus Xiaodie’s personality She is very kind, so she hopes to find a good owner for her as soon as possible so that she can live a life with a family.

If you are interested in temporarily taking care of or adopting Xiaodie, you can contact the Hong Kong Cat and Dog Rescue Association through Facebook or Instagram.

In addition, illegal traps have caused many animals to become tragically disabled or even lose their lives. The CPCA said that CPCA inspectors have been working hard to rescue animals trapped in animal traps for many years, but unfortunately, the number of cases continues to increase unabated. As of November this year, the CPCA has assisted in handling 18 cases involving 14 animals and seized 29 illegal animal trapping equipment, reminding owners to be more careful.
