Amadou Damaro Camara, former president of the Guinean National Assembly, detained since April 27, 2022 at the Central House of Conakry, requested his release on March 25 before the Court for the Repression of Economic and Financial Offenses (CRIEF). The judge’s decision will be known tomorrow, Monday April 22.
Damaro, imprisoned for alleged misappropriation of public funds, cited health reasons to justify his request. “I have been sick and hospitalized for 15 months. I admit that it was better in December 2023. But for two weeks, it has started once more in a worrying way and the doctors tell me: if I continue to stress myself, I risk losing my toes at best. They call it peripheral neuropathy,” he explained.
This former senior executive of RPG Arc-en-ciel and privileged collaborator of Alpha Condé will be determined on his fate tomorrow.
It should be remembered that this is the 7th time he has requested conditional release.
