Nine Republicans have announced their candidacies so far in the race for speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives, which was back to square one. The process of selecting a chairperson may take longer.

By the noon deadline on the 22nd, nine people had announced their candidacy, including Rep. Tom Emmer, who is close to former Speaker McCarthy, and Rep. Pete Sessions, who served as chairman of the House Steering Committee.
According to Interim Chairman McHenry, the Republican Party will return to Washington on the 23rd and will hold a meeting on candidates for chairman at 6:30 p.m. (7:30 a.m. Japan time on the 24th). The selection process will begin on the 24th.
