CHAIRMAN of the ASFA Foundation, Komjen Pol (Ret.) Syafruddin Kambo, was received by Grand Shaykh Al-Azhar Ahmad At-Thayib at his office in Cairo, Sunday (3/11). The second meeting discussed strengthening and increasing cooperation between Al-Azhar and the ASFA Foundation in student development. Apart from that, the two of them also discussed world peace cooperation.
Syafruddin expressed his high appreciation to Al-Azhar for its dedication in educating the young generation of Muslims around the world, including Indonesia. He also expressed his gratitude to the Grand Shaykh for being given the opportunity to serve Al-Azhar in developing and managing some of the Indonesian students who were studying at Al-Azhar Cairo.
According to him, investment in superior human resources must be carried out well and structured, because they are the future of the Indonesian nation. Syaikh At-Thayyib also expressed the same thanks and appreciation for the dedication and participation of the ASFA Foundation together with Al-Azhar in coaching thousands of Indonesian students at Al-Azhar.

During the meeting, Shaykh At-Thayyib hoped that the ASFA Foundation could increase its role on a broader global scale, especially in world peace. Grand Shaikh invited the ASFA Foundation to be actively involved in dealing with conflicts in the world. This idea was immediately welcomed by the Chairman of the ASFA Foundation, Syafruddin. It is planned that in the near future both parties will form a special team together to discuss the cooperation in more detail.
The Chairman of the ASFA Foundation was accompanied by ASFA Board of Trustees Timothy Savitri, ASFA Advisor Hasan Ali Al-Bahar, Inspector General of Police (Ret.) Saiful Maltha, Inspector General of Police (Ret.) Prasta Wahyu Hidayat, Deputy Chair of ASFA Lazis Anizar Mashhadi and Chair of the Sharia Supervisory Board KH. Anang Rikza and Atdikbud At the Indonesian Embassy in Cairo, Abdul Muta’ali.
Meanwhile, the Grand Shaikh was accompanied by the Director of Al-Azhar Secondary Education, Prof. Ayman Abdul Ghani, Advisor to GSA Ambassador Abdurrahman Musa, Advisor to GSA Nahlah As-Soidy. Apart from meeting the Grand Shaykh of Al-Azhar, Haji Syafrudin was also specially received by the Deputy Grand Shaykh of Al-Azhar Muhammad Ad-Duwqiny, the Egyptian Minister of Endowments Usamah Sayyid Azhari and the Mufti of Egypt Nadhir Ayyadh. The peak of Haji Syafruddin’s activities in Cairo was attending the Al-Azhar University International Student Graduation (40 countries), which was attended by thousands of Al-Azhar graduates in 2024 on Wednesday, November 5 2024 at the Al-Azhar International Center in Cairo.
