(CNN Español) — Karolina Bielawska, representative of Poland, became this Wednesday night in Miss World 2021in the 70th edition of the international contest that took place in San Juan Puerto Rico. This final was going to take place in December, but had to be postponed due to an outbreak of covid-19.
“When I heard my name I was shocked, I still can’t believe it. I am honored to wear the Miss World crown and can’t wait to get to work. I will remember this incredible chapter in Puerto Rico for the rest of my life,” Bielawska said, through the press release issued by the Miss World organization.
Bielawska replaces the Jamaican Toni-Ann Singh, who had held the title since 2019, since the contest was canceled in 2020 due to the covid-19 pandemic. Shree Saini, from the United States, was distinguished as the first runner-up, and Olivia Yace, from the Ivory Coast, as the second runner-up.
Bielawska is currently studying for a master’s degree in management and works as a model, according to a press release released by the contest’s organizers. She also enjoys swimming, diving, tennis and badminton. Her goal is to become a motivator.
In the press release it is reported that the final of Miss World, the contest created in 1951, was broadcast to more than 100 countries.
