Lee Sang-min (Daejeon Yuseong), a five-term lawmaker who joined the People Power Party following leaving the Democratic Party of Korea, said he was surprised to see senior lawmakers discussing the internal atmosphere of the People Power Party without taboo.

Rep. Lee Sang-min appeared on CBS Radio’s ‘Park Jae-hong’s Fight’ on the 12th and said, “I went to a meeting of (People Power Party) senior leaders. “There are so many harsh stories that I cannot introduce them all here,” he said. “Rather, the senior members of the Democratic Party do not say a word.”

Representative Lee Sang-min said, “I thought it was unexpected in a gathering of people in three or more terms,” and added, “It is difficult to convey a very sensitive issue as is. (It is said) that it is not leaked because it is private.”

Regarding the criticism that came following he joined the People Power Party following speaking bitterly within the Democratic Party, he said, “The reason I spoke bitterly was to make the Democratic Party a healthy political force,” and added, “I left because I might no longer remain in the Democratic Party. Among many options, the realistic People Power Party was chosen. “I had my share of worries, but I think I did well now,” he said.

Regarding the criticism that he engaged in politics of betrayal, he said, “It is true that Lee Jae-myung betrayed the Gaetal Party. Rather, it is Lee Jae-myung’s shrine, a dog’s daughter’s party. “I consider it a personal honor to be told that Lee Jae-myung and his accomplices are ‘traitors,’” he said. “But I definitely maintained my trust with the public.” Who are those who betray the public sentiment? “It is Lee Jae-myung and his accomplices.”

Rep. Lee Sang-min said, “I feel at ease (by joining the People Power Party). When I was in the Democratic Party, I didn’t like seeing people get swept away and do things that were different from my beliefs or intentions, such as voting or proposing bills. “There were times when I felt remorse,” he said. “I felt real remorse for being so tyrannical as a member of the National Assembly.”

In response to the question, ‘Are you going to speak bitterly at the People Power Party?’ he said, “Am I crazy? I haven’t been there for a long time, but if I speak bitterly, I will be kicked out.” He added, “The goal is to make it effective like this while showing appropriate consideration and building up power.” “That’s not the goal,” he said.

Regarding the ‘Kim Kun-hee Special Prosecutor Act’ that he co-sponsored while he was in the Democratic Party, he said, “In order to fully demonstrate the president’s leadership in state affairs, we have no choice but to shake off this suspicion. “It seems like the only way is a special investigation,” he said. “But isn’t the general election just around the corner? If you want to compromise, either do it right following the general election and the ruling and opposition parties agree on the right to recommend special prosecutors, or delegate the right to recommend to the Korean Bar Association. “If we do this, we will reach a reasonable settlement.”

Regarding Lee Nak-yeon, former Democratic Party leader, who eventually left the Democratic Party, he said, “I left the Democratic Party because I had no space to do anything. Even if the Democratic Party were to become X version, I would have done it if there was even a little room for effort,” he said. “If former representative Nak-yeon Lee is (in the Democratic Party), will he be nothing more than an old man in the back room? I can’t participate in the agenda and just say good things. So, it’s a good thing you came out.”
