The specific plans
Ford has invested two billion dollars in the construction and modernization of the new so-called Cologne Electrification Center in Cologne-Niehl. At the CEC, the first Ford plant in Europe for electric vehicles, a currently unnamed, smaller crossover will roll off the assembly line next year. Ford is developing it together with VW. The all-electric Ford Puma, on the other hand, will be produced at the Craiova plant in Romania from 2024. A slightly larger e-crossover will follow in 2024 as a Kuga replacement, also in co-production with Wolfsburg. Both are doomed to score points from the start, otherwise Ford’s newfound desire for adventure might quickly fade. (SPX)
