Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Rishabh Pant, who was seriously injured in a car accident, is certain to miss the IPL 2023 season. The star needs at least 6 months to recover from the ligament injury. In this situation, new reports suggest that David Warner will be the captain of Delhi Capitals instead of Pant.
According to a TOI report, the Delhi Capitals management is considering handing over the captaincy of the team to David Warner in Ball’s absence. The matter will be discussed with Warner soon. Also, the team is looking for an Indian wicketkeeper-batsman instead of the ball. There are also reports that Sarfaraz Khan, who plays for Mumbai in domestic cricket, will be made the keeper.
The team will appoint Rishabh Pant as the captain for the 2021 season. David Warner was appointed as the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad in 2015 and led the team to their first and only IPL title in 2016. But Warner was unexpectedly sacked as SRH captain midway through IPL 2021 and the franchise decided not to retain him. He was acquired by Delhi Capitals for Rs 6.25 crore in the IPL 2022 mega auction.
