The online game “2.5-Dimensional Temptation: Angels’ Stage (hereinafter referred to as Liliste)” released by Aiming is scheduled to be released on Wednesday, September 3, 2024.
This is a cosplay battle RPG game that allows you to relive the TV anime “2.5-Dimensional Temptation (hereinafter referred to as NigoriRi)” in 3D graphics.
I had the opportunity to attend an advance preview event for this work, as well as an advance screening of the TV anime “2.5-Dimensional Temptation,” so I’d like to share my impressions with you.

The cosplay battle is hot! Advance screening of episodes 10 and 11
First, an advance screening of episodes 10 and 11 of the TV anime “NigoRiri” was held. The highlight was the hot cosplay battle that is typical of Jump works (the original work is published in Shonen Jump+). There were some scenes where the passionate feelings of the characters collided and made me want to cry.
I was so engrossed in the story that time flew by, and before I knew it, the end of episode 11 had arrived.
We spoke to producer Sanematsu about “our commitment to realism” and other topics.
After the advance screening, we spoke to Teruaki Sanematsu (ADK Emotions Inc.), producer of the TV anime “2.5-Dimensional Temptation,” about the anime.
He also shared some behind-the-scenes stories about his commitment to realism, so we’d like to share some of them here.
- In fact, all the camera shutter sounds in the film are different.
- The sound played in the event venue scenes uses outdoor audio recorded at an actual event.
- The way the cameraman held the camera had to be retaken many times in order to achieve a realistic look.
The smooth-moving characters are cute! “Lilista” trial session
Next, a trial session for the game “Lilista” was held. While installing the game, Masahiko Takeuchi (Aiming Co., Ltd.) spoke about his passion and commitment to game development. We will summarize Takeuchi’s presentation in the form of a Q&A.
Why did you decide to make it into a game?
It’s because I was moved to tears when I read the original work. Tears are the ultimate emotional expression. I took on the challenge of asking myself, “How can I express this emotion in a game?”
What was the biggest challenge you faced during development and production?
We aimed to push the limits of character expression.
If it were a simple battle game, you could get by with just moving quickly and adding lots of effects, but in this case, movement often stops.
We thought about how to express the appearance, and started from scratch with basic research and development, thoroughly examining 3D models and texture expression.
We put a lot of effort into bringing out the beauty of the cosplayers’ poses.
Examples of attention to detail in character expression
- Expression of wrinkles when various parts are bent
- Transparent expression of bangs
- Physics calculations are used to make objects and clothes sway
- An expression that makes the other fingers follow when you bend one finger
Ultimately, I think we’ve created something really good, so this is something I’d like you to pay close attention to.
What is the purpose of its existence as a game?
I want to provide a space where you can continue to be immersed in the work, where you can get a deeper understanding of the character in the game and realize, “So this is what this character is like!”
And then, to properly express something like a long story that can only be experienced in a game. It’s not like we’re creating a place for it, but we’re creating it with that in mind.
What do you want to convey to your fans?
Isn’t it fun to tell people around you about the things you like and laugh and have fun together?
It felt like I just wanted to put work aside and do that.
Q&A and chat corner
After Takeuchi’s presentation, we moved on to a corner where everyone could ask questions and chat about things they were curious about while actually playing the game. We heard a variety of stories in a relaxed atmosphere, so we’ll summarize them here in Q&A format.
Please tell us how “2.5-Dimensional Love (Mayuri)” was implemented in the game.
I just had you watch the anime (episodes 10 and 11) so I thought it would be really easy to explain, but I really love that scene.
This was one of the key points that made me want to do this work. This is where the spotlight really shines on Mayuri.
When I started working on this project, I wanted to release the game at this time because it would definitely be the most exciting time.
Is the song that plays on the title screen original?
Yes, I wrote it as the theme song for the game. I wanted to write a song that captured the passion of this work, which elevates cosplay to a sport.
In addition, we have produced original music for some characters.
What’s the best thing about the game?
I’ve produced games for a different IP before, but this time I’m actually doing something that I wasn’t able to achieve there.
What I mean by that is that the characters and worldview on each screen are designed to be continuously connected.
It’s about creating space, making you think, “Where is this character’s or my viewpoint right now, and where are they and what are they doing?”
We try to “create the game organically,” and we’re extremely particular about that.
What is your favorite scene in the original work, Takeuchi-san?
The scene you saw today (episodes 10 and 11) is actually the second one. The first one was about the summer comic market, and one scene really hit me (laughs).
Smooth movement on the home screen
This time, the home screen was created using full motion capture, so it looks extremely smooth and realistic.
This time, we are also taking on the challenge of cinematic expression. We are researching and developing the basics to create an exciting adventure system.
Do you use any anime footage in the game?
As for the main story, elements from the original anime are incorporated throughout.
We are working in cooperation with the animation side, and for some of the scenes that look the best we are using video, and we are weaving the story together between the anime and us at the production company to design it.
We use scenes from the anime to create the tempo, and then for the parts we want to emphasize, we use the engine I mentioned earlier and create scenes using 3D models. That’s the general method we use to design it.
About the training screen
There is a screen for developing characters, and I wanted to add some interactivity to it. When you tap a tab, the character’s facial expression changes in a positive way.
They are all made by character, so I think you’ll find them cute just by touching them.
About the battle system
I thought it would be wrong to hurt people with this work. I carefully crafted it, thinking about how to create a competitive atmosphere, and made it a bit more of a silly game (laughs).
Since we focused on emotions, we made sure to create a sense of defeat when emotions overwhelm the character.
Of course, I am also concerned about making it unnecessarily difficult.
Is there anything that you would call fun?
For fun, there is some content in the end content that uses 8-bit sound sources. You can’t unlock the feature unless you play deeply, but there’s a tower themed on the “Ashford War Chronicles” in the game.
Also, just for fun, I’ve included some internet memes here and there.
summary
The trial session ended in about 2.5 hours. The author had already checked out the original manga and anime in preparation for this day, so being able to hear the precious stories directly made him even more excited about “NigoRiri”.
The character movements in the game are very smooth and not only are they cute to look at, but the cosplay battles are also magnificent.
