Report: Delay in the launch of Apple AR / VR glasses due to a software problem

A recent report by MacRumors revealed that Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo reported that the company’s upcoming mixed reality headset may be delayed due to software-related issues. The report states that these issues may push mass shipments of the device into the second half of 2023.

Apple AR / VR headset: expected details

Kuo expects Apple to introduce the AR / VR headset at WWDC 2023 (which usually happens around June) if it is not officially announced in early 2023, and the analyst also expects the company to open a software development kit (SDK) at the same time, which will help SDK packages developers create AR/VR apps for the device.

Mass shipments of AR/VR device components are likely to begin in the first half of 2023, Kuo claims. However, Apple may not begin shipping the device until the second half of the year, and Kuo predicts that this will delay the launch even if the company announces Apple announces a mixed reality headset in early 2023.

Kuo also expects the upcoming Apple AR/VR device to arrive at a hefty price tag. He also expects the company to ship less than 500,000 units in 2023. More details regarding the product’s pricing and features are expected to emerge in the coming days.

Previously, Kuo claimed that Apple may announce its Reality Headset at a media event in January 2023 and mass shipments begin in the second quarter of the year. The report also did not indicate whether the delay in shipments would delay the device’s announcement.
