The Frisian branch of Discrimination.nl will file a complaint once morest Johan Derksen for his statement regarding Member of Parliament Habtamu de Hoop. The director of the Tûmba reporting point and knowledge center, Mirka Antolovic, said this on Thursday followingnoon. She will contact the police on Friday to make an appointment.
The discrimination.nl reporting center has now received 680 complaints regarding the statement that Derksen made on Tuesday in the Today Inside program (VI). De Hoop was born in Ethiopia and grew up in Friesland. Derksen said that De Hoop is not Frisian, just as the presenter himself is not Surinamese. Antolovic previously said that the text “does refer to skin color”, but did not yet know whether the statement is legally racist.
Chairman of the national Discrimination.nl Sjaak van der Linde has requested an interview with Talpa. Talpa previously indicated in a response that it would not enter into discussions with the presenters of VI. Derksen, in turn, indicated in Wednesday evening’s VI episode that he would not make any apologies. “Because it was not meant to be racist. It was just a comment,” said the analyst.
De Hoop itself will not file a report. “To be very honest, I don’t have much time or interest in this nonsense,” the GroenLinks-PvdA MP said earlier.
