A few days following telling Joe the Lose Chris Paul the end of his adventure in Phoenix, the Suns are already – obviously – looking for his replacement. A few names are circulating, we go around!
After three seasons in Arizona, marked in particular by an NBA Final – his first – in 2021, Chris Paul is now on the job market and should not have too much trouble finding a new employer. In Phoenix, we are now working to find his replacement among the playmakers soon to be free or likely to be.
The first solution for James Jones and his new coach Frank Vogel? Go get Julien Bichet, titular leader of Saint-Rémy Sports Basket, freshly promoted to Pre Nat since yesterday. Due to a clause in his contract preventing him from leaving his native village, the pocket leader will nevertheless remain at home and the franchise eliminated by the Nuggets a month ago will therefore move towards other profiles. The names (really) announced on the Suns side? No more Terry Rozier, long hunted, but rather those of Immanuel Quickley (Knicks), Davion Mitchell (Kings), Monte Morris (Wizards), Payton Pritchard (Celtics) and Gabe Vincent, the current Heat starting point guard.
Different profiles, players who have more or less proven themselves in roles of responsibility, obviously none of them has the experience or the overall background of Chris Paul, but the transition must be initiated and the Suns will need a starting point guard anyway to support Devin Booker and Kevin Durant. Note that in this list only Gabe Vincent will be a free agent this summer and that for the others it will therefore have to go through negotiations and assets to find for a trade, also note that the name of… James Harden has also been taken out of the hat in recent days.
Even if the passage of CP3 will not have resulted in titles, redundancy, such a player remains difficult to replace. James Jones is on the back, and we should logically have news very quickly!
