Order for 22 machines
Ruag maintains the US Navy’s F-5 Tigers
RUAG has received an important contract for work on US Navy F-5 jets. It may carry out repair work on 22 “F-5 Tigers” and the engines. The US Navy acquired the aircraft from the Swiss Air Force a good two years ago.
At the beginning of July, the US Navy awarded a comprehensive F-5 modernization contract to the US company Tactical Air Support and RUAG will act as a subcontractor, the state-owned armaments company said on Friday. No information is given on the financial scope of the order.
The order marks a milestone, Thomas Kipfer, responsible for the Air business field, is quoted in the announcement. This would allow RUAG to retain its F-5 expertise and improve its position on the international market with the partnership with Tactical Air Support.
According to the information, the civilian company Tactical Air Support counts not only the US Navy but also the US Air Force and the US Marine Corps among its customers and intends to serve customers outside the USA in the future.
