In Russia, Hyundai ix35 (or Hyundai Tucson) crossovers are known for being sold and sold in traditional versions running on gasoline and diesel, but such cars could be bought abroad, including in the hydrogen version. One of the owners of such a car from Germany recently complained that he received an extremely high check for the repair of his “SUV”.
Adherents of new technologies, as a rule, are forced to pay extra for any possible repair of their cars. However, in the case of the owner of the Hyundai ix35, the overpayment exceeded all reasonable limits.
A man bought a Korean crossover in a hydrogen version of the FCEV seven years ago as a replacement for a hybrid Toyota Prius. And, according to him, all these years the car did not present any unpleasant surprises in terms of breakdowns, delighting the owner with fast acceleration, silent driving, environmental friendliness and high range.
But at some point, his Hyundai refused to work, showing an error message on the dashboard every time he tried to start.
As a result, the owner of the non-standard ix35 had to contact the service, where he was charged exactly the same non-trivial amount for car repairs, which amounted to 103 thousand 764 euros or more than 11 million rubles. This is twice the price of buying this car new 7 years ago.
The servicemen explained the extremely high cost of repairs by the fact that the problem was related to the fuel cell, the price of which is 84,875 euros (slightly more than 9 million rubles). The problem was fueled by the fact that the ix35 FCEV is a limited edition car, for which parts are now almost impossible to find.
Of course, the German is not ready to fork out such a sum and now demands Hyundai to take his car and pay a penalty.
According to AutoBild, the automaker admitted that repairing the car does not make any economic sense and is now trying to find alternative solutions for the owner of the crossover.
