Rep. Park Wan-joo’s ‘Sexual Abuse’ Investigation by Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency

(Seoul = Yonhap News) Reporter Eun-kyung Song and Gyu-ri Park = The police have launched an investigation into the alleged sexual abuse of Rep. Park Wan-joo (56), who was expelled from the Democratic Party of Korea.

According to the police on the 19th, the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency’s Youth Crime Investigation Unit took over the case of Rep. Park from the Yeongdeungpo Police Station on the 17th and is investigating. It is known that the police have relocated the case to the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency considering the importance of the case.

Earlier, on the 16th, the victim’s side submitted a complaint to the Youngdeungpo Police Station’s Women’s and Youth Division asking for the punishment of Rep. Park.

It is known that the complaint includes allegations of forced sexual assault, abuse of power, and defamation by timely reporting of false facts.

An investigation into the summons of the accuser and Rep. Park has not yet been conducted.

A police official said, “We have started an investigation into the case.” “We cannot reveal specific details because the victim is very concerned regarding secondary harm.”
