Renovating at home with reconditioned materials, a practice that interests more and more French people while purchasing power remains at the center of concerns. This makes it possible to buy cheaper products and therefore not to exceed its budget limit while offering a second life to the materials.
Doing work at home requires a substantial budget that is not always achievable. Despite the increase in purchasing power, 63% of French people would like to renovate their homes according to a study on Housing revealed by the JDD last January. And the reconditioned allows to combine economy and renovation. Europe 1 met Sylvain, a 37-year-old salesman, who is completely renovating his house in this way and therefore does not exceed his maximum budget.
Pay for materials at half price
With a house of 500 m2 in Lorraine, Sylvain had to use reconditioned to avoid blowing up his budget of 200,000 euros. For 8 months, this salesperson has been trying all possible solutions to avoid having to buy products that have undergone up to 100% increase. “I have to go looking right and left for refurbished products. Last time, I bought an air conditioning system. I paid half the price for it than in the store,” he explained. .
Thanks to these savings, Sylvain can put the money he has left into other products. Most often, unused materials on construction sites go directly to the trash. A bad habit that gave Romain de Garsignies an idea: launch Stock Pro in 2018, a site for reusing new building materials. “For a year, we have multiplied all our figures by seven”, he confided to the micro Europe 1. Inflation has indeed had a positive effect on this practice. The company then went from around 2,000 orders per year to 2,000 orders per month. In France, the building materials reconditioning market exceeded the 5 billion euro mark.
