The house in Pinheiros, São Paulo, belongs to the third generation of the same family, and was renovated to welcome the new residents, a young couple and their dog. The spaces, exaggeratedly compartmentalized, with little lighting and low ceilings, did not meet expectations. To adapt the house to contemporary living, Estúdio BRA demolished the old structure and kept only the masonry adjacent to the lot, made of solid brick and with a structural function.

After demolition, they occupied the 4×24 meter urban plot with the new program, divided into three levels: ground floor, upper level and roof garden. On the ground floor, the spatial organization is clear, with dialogue between the kitchen, living room, garden and office, without vertical closures. The route begins at the front retreat with landscaping featuring native species from the Atlantic forest. Access to the house is via a pivoting door and a sliding frame, which, when opened completely, extend the social area.

The dining table, next to the marble cooking island, organizes the kitchen, while circulation to the living area is on the other side. The kitchen has furniture designed in joinery by the architects, a hydraulic tile floor and a stone bench, occupying 3.60 x 5.15m next to the living room, where the structure is visible with metal pillars, metal beams, panel slabs, solid bricks and a sheet metal shelf designed by Estúdio BRA.

The central garden, between the living room and the barbecue, was presented with an adult Jabuticabeira, transplanted in the final phase of the work, contributing to thermal comfort. At the end of the lot, the office and toilet are divided below the roof slab, which houses medium-sized fruit trees.

Access to the upper floor is via a staircase made in a mixed structure in two flights that do not touch, the first in polished reinforced concrete and the others in folded metal sheet. The upper floor is divided between two suites. The metal staircase extends to the roof, accessed from an automated hatch.

The new structure, in addition to the raised floor for the passage of infrastructure, made it possible to install a lawn with a garden and vegetable garden on the same level as the wooden deck. The laundry and infrastructure equipment are resolved in a volume that can be opened or closed by perforated metallic doors of the shrimp type.
