It’s in a prefectural decreepublished Friday January 12, that new details have been revealed concerning the two major breakdowns of line B of the Rennes metro.

The information was spotted by our colleagues from Telegram. The loosening of a nut would be the cause of the incidents.

Indeed, this prefectural decreesubmitting the return to service of line B of the Rennes Métropole metro with the authorization of the prefectdetails the two incidents that have happened in recent months:

  • “The incident of November 18 leading to the deguidance of the NeoVAL train n°56 in operation and the fire at the rectification station of the maintenance workshop, required, on the one hand, investigations on the rolling stock, and on the other hand, repairs and overhauls of energy and signaling infrastructures. They took place in December before the resumption of commercial operation of line B on December 22, 2023.
  • “The event of January 3, 2024 requires investigations and potential redesign of rolling stock with regard to the fixings of the axle guide pivots. »

“Ensure that the oars pivot nut is not loosened”

But the most important element in this decree is surely the mention ofa solution to find “making it possible to ensure that the oars pivot nut is not loosened”.

It thus contributes to understand a little better the reasons for the incidents on line B of the Rennes metro. These elements also correlate with the minimal information disclosed with difficulty by Stéphane Bayon de Noyer, director of the Rolling Stock Business Unit – Siemens Mobility, manufacturer of Cityval, advocating ongoing investigations.
