Pikine, Apr 21 (APS) – Khalifa Guèye, head of the operations department of Belrans, the company responsible for managing the ”Les Baux maraîchers” bus station, has called on the public authorities to renew the car fleet of this bus station, which he says has become aging.
”We have noticed that we have an aging fleet. The cars no longer meet the standards. We have done everything and it is the State that must act to renew this car fleet for greater profitability of the bus station,” he told APS. Due to this situation, many travelers prefer to go to other bus stations or places to find ”much more comfortable” vehicles.
Amadou Ly, the administrative and financial director of Beltrans, indicates that there is a shortfall for the Belrans company with the installation of parallel bus stations in certain other places in the Dakar region.
”Because of the irregular stations installed everywhere outside the official station, the State loses invaluable revenue. We ask the authorities to give the station the means to carry out its mission well,” he added.
The ”Les Baux maraîchers” bus station has been stormed for three days by many travelers leaving for the interior regions of Senegal and neighboring countries, as the Korité festival approaches, marking the end of Ramadan.
