Over the past months, social media sites have been filled with blogs and video clips monitoring the suffering experienced by families affected by the Al Haouz earthquake, since September 8, especially those who are still living in the tents they set up following their homes partially or completely collapsed.

The same blog posts and videos touched on the suffering of families who have been excluded from benefiting from the compensation allocated to victims for unclear reasons, while the affected people themselves hope to overcome this problem.

On the other hand, the voices of associational and human rights organizations are getting louder demanding the intervention of the guardian authorities to provide decent living conditions for those affected by the natural disaster, revealing many violations that have affected the compensation and reconstruction processes.

The same activists considered that these “imbalances” require urgent intervention by the government in order to stop them and enable those with rights to enjoy all their rights, while demands continue to lift the marginalization and suffering of families who have been crying out for help for eight months.

In this regard, the Progress and Socialism Team in the House of Representatives called on the Minister of the Interior, Abdelouafi Laftit, to investigate the validity and extent of the imbalances affecting the activation of the assistance and rehabilitation program for earthquake victims, while arranging the necessary effects, and correcting what needs to be corrected regarding operations to assist the population and rebuild the affected areas. From the earthquake.

In a written question signed by its head, Rachid Hamouni, the team mentioned, citing a number of local activists, the slow rehabilitation of the damaged infrastructure at the level of a group of districts and villages, while pointing out the presence of imbalances in the process of inventorying the completely or partially damaged housing, by sometimes departing from objective standards. To compute different relational accounts.

The team stopped at the exclusion of some beneficiaries, especially widows and people with disabilities, for subjective reasons, with poor scrutiny of the technical files of the affected homes, in order to determine and distribute compensation.

In a related context, the same source denounced what it called “the lack of adequate attention to the complaints of those affected,” calling on the Minister of the Interior to intervene and take the necessary measures at the central level in relationship with the decentralized departments and decentralized bodies, in order to address the imbalances and arrange penalties related to the issue.
