According to a joint report published by NGVAmerica (Natural Gas Vehicles for America) and RNG Coalition (Coalition for Renewable Natural Gas), 69% of the gas used for mobility in the United States in 2022 was of renewable origin.

According to studies by the two organizations, the use of biomethane as a transport fuel in the USA increased in volume by 17% compared to 2021 and by 218% compared to 2018. Last year, the equivalent of 2,500 million liters of natural gas were used to power road vehicles such as trucks, buses and dumpsters (457 million gallons being from renewable sources).

In 2022, 69% of the gas consumed for the mobility sector in the United States was of renewable origin. For comparison, the share of 35.9% in France in 2022.

« Heavy-duty RNG (Renewable Natural Gas) vehicles are a scalable, economical and environmentally friendly solution for American road and public transport fleetss,” says Dan Gage, president of NGVAmerica. “Thanks to the new 15-litre engines that will soon be available on the market, commercial fleets that require more power will also be able to use this fuel as a substitute for diesel. They will thus greatly reduce their fuel costs, as well as their carbon emissions. »

“The renewable gas market is booming! confirms Johannes Escudero, Founder and CEO of RNG Coalition. ” With 281 waste-to-biogas plants, and 476 more planned or in the process of being installed, the United States is increasingly able to offer its consumers the opportunity to decarbonize with this extremely clean fuel.. »
