Indonesian cycling athlete from the Dayu Racing Team, Rendy Varera, succeeded in mastering the Men Elite 76 Indonesian Downhill 2024 class. His achievement of 490 points accumulated from the Klangon Bike Park Yogyakarta, Ternadi Bike Park Kudus, and Klemuk Bike Park Batu series, led him to become the overall champion. In the Malang series, he managed to be in 4th position.
“For today’s final run, the prediction is rain because during the seeding run last Saturday (9/11) it also rained heavily. I had prepared the wet tire settings but it didn’t rain. Apart from that, my rear tire was punctured. “But thank God, we were still able to occupy fourth place in this third series, and become General Champion this year,” explained Rendy.
The second position in the Men Elite class is occupied by Andy Prayoga with a score of 384 points. Following behind him, Agung Prio Apriliano is in third place with a score of 336 points.

In the other main category, namely Women Elite, a dramatic victory was achieved by Ayu Triya Andriana (Polair DH Team Wiucycling) after scoring full points in the final run and beating downhiller from New Zealand, Jenna Hastings, who had led during the seeding run. Ayu became the overall champion with a score of 550 points as well as Series 3 Champion. 200 points adrift, athlete from the SART team, Milatul Khaqimah was in second place with a total of 350 points. Meanwhile, Regina Patricia Panie had to settle for third place with a total of 150 points.
“Alhamdulillah, today’s results met my expectations, namely becoming champion. Competition in this class is quite tight because the time difference is not too big. Klemuk is one of the tracks that I like the most, because we are required to be smart and focused in running the race, especially in choosing the race line so that we can set the best time. “God willing, my next target is the 2025 SEA Games in Thailand,” explained Ayu.
76Rider representative, Agnes Wuisan, revealed that a competitive atmosphere had existed since the seeding run (9/11) to the final run (10/11). All downhillers involved are required to finish the race well, while also competing quickly to record the best time. He hopes that the achievements of the riders in this season’s event can be maintained or even improved further so that Indonesia can make Indonesia’s name prouder on the international stage.

**Editor:** Congratulations, Rendy! Winning the overall title in the Men Elite class at the 2024 Indonesian Downhill is a tremendous achievement. How does it feel to be crowned champion?
**Rendy Varera:** Thank you! It feels incredible. All the hard work and training over the past year has paid off, and I couldn’t be happier to represent the Dayu Racing Team with this title.
**Editor:** Your journey to this title involved several challenging races. Can you tell us about your performance in the series leading up to the championship?
**Rendy Varera:** Absolutely. I accumulated a total of 490 points from races in Klangon, Ternadi, and Klemuk. Even though I only placed 4th in the final series in Malang, it was enough to secure the overall championship. It was a real test, especially considering how unpredictable the weather was.
**Editor:** Speaking of the weather, you mentioned an unusual situation during the final run. Can you elaborate on that?
**Rendy Varera:** Yes, the weather forecast predicted rain, which made us prepare for wet conditions. I had my wet tire settings ready, but surprisingly, it didn’t rain that day. To make matters worse, I ended up with a punctured rear tire during the run. Despite these challenges, I managed to finish fourth, and I am grateful that it was still enough to clinch the championship title.
**Editor:** Your competitors, like Andy Prayoga and Agung Prio Apriliano, performed well too. How do you view the competition this season?
**Rendy Varera:** The competition was intense! Andy and Agung pushed me to my limits. Their skills and determination kept me on my toes, and I think it elevated everyone’s performance this season.
**Editor:** Switching gears a bit, the Women’s Elite class saw an impressive performance by Ayu Triya Andriana. What are your thoughts on her victory?
**Rendy Varera:** Ayu’s achievement is remarkable! Scoring full points in the final run shows her talent and resilience. The competition in the Women’s Elite class is fierce, and it’s inspiring to see such dedication.
**Editor:** Looking ahead, what are your plans for the future? Will we see you back next season?
**Rendy Varera:** Definitely! I plan to continue training hard and improving my skills. Competing in national and international events is my goal, and I can’t wait to see what next season brings.
**Editor:** Thank you, Rendy, for sharing your journey with us. Best of luck as you continue your cycling career!
**Rendy Varera:** Thank you! I appreciate the support!
