ROUEN is mobilizing alongside Trans-Forme to host the National Transplant and Dialysis Games for the first time.
About fifteen sports disciplines will be represented: walking, athletics, golf, petanque, indoor rowing, basketball, swimming, table tennis, tennis, table football, shooting, karting, bowling, laser game… The objective: to promote the success of transplantation and the need for organ donations, through the positive image of transplant recipients and dialysis patients practicing physical and sporting activity.
All transplant recipients and dialysis patients, of all physical levels, can register to participate in sporting events, subject to satisfactory medical prerequisites with the sole objective: the participation of each, to their extent, within the framework of organized events. with rigor and security.
For 3 years now, the repercussions of the Covid-19 pandemic have continued to be felt on the transplant activity in France.
Despite this difficult context, the healthcare teams have once once more been able to show resilience and thanks to their strong mobilization, the transplant activity has been able to continue to increase: in 2022, 5,494 organ transplants were therefore able to be carried out. for the benefit of waiting patients.
But despite this mobilization, activity has not yet returned to its pre-Covid level (5,901 transplants in 2019 and 6,105 in 2017). Raising awareness of the challenges of organ donation therefore remains more important than ever. The list of people waiting for a transplant continues to grow…
