On Wednesday, Renault will present a concept called the Legend which, in the production version, probably in 2026, will become an electric city model that will have a starting price of less than 20,000 euros, before the application of subsidies. Legend will be produced by the new Ampere division.

The model will be a successor to Twingo, and the international press wrote that it might be produced at the plant in Slovenia.
Renault’s Ampere division, which specializes in electric cars, will launch seven new new models by 2031, when it wants to sell around one million cars a year, passing its target of 600,000 in 2026. Ampere wants turnover of 10 billion euros in 2025 and 25 billion euros in 2031.
Ampere was launched on November 1, 2023, has 11,000 employees, 35% of whom are engineers, focusing on EV technologies and software.
Luca de Meo, the head of Renault, has spoken several times regarding the “democratization” of electric cars, the idea being that they will quickly become cheaper than those that run on gasoline or diesel, and that their costs will decrease from that point as well.
What Renault says regarding the Legend
The “Legend”, revealed today, is an urban vehicle par excellence: it has a “best-in-class” energy efficiency, with a consumption of only 10 kWh/100km, CO₂ emissions during the life cycle with 75% less smaller than the majority of internal combustion vehicles sold on the European market in 2023, and low consumption of raw materials as a result of its compact dimensions. Made in Europe, the model will be available at an entry price of under 20,000 Euros (before the application of subsidies), which will represent a cost to the customer equivalent to less than 100 Euros per month.
What are the other three electric models that Renault will launch until the Legend
Scenic E-Tech, which will be available on the market at the beginning of next year at an entry price of around 40,000 Euros, represents the future of family models in Europe, with a content of recyclable materials of up to 95%, offering a best-in-class autonomy of over 625 km WLTP and a TCO already at the level of hybrid models.
Renault 5, which will be presented in the first quarter of 2024, reissues an iconic model of the brand. The Renault 5 will offer a range of up to 400 km for an entry price of around 25,000 Euros, competing with segment B hybrid models. The model will be equipped with “Reno avatar”, a virtual co-pilot equipped with artificial intelligence, which it will learn every day from its user to better anticipate and respond to its needs.
Renault 4, whose launch is foreseen in 2025, will reinterpret the idea of the multipurpose car in the electric age. It will be a highly versatile model that will benefit from the ingredients already used in the case of the Renault 5, such as the AmpR Small platform and the infotainment system.
