The group Renault has just announced a new synergy with the Italian engine manufacturer Punch Torino concerning the production and compliance with anti-pollution standards of diesel engines for light commercial vehicles.
Concretely, the 4-cylinder diesel will be produced in Normandy, in the Cléon plant, then will be sent to Turin, where Punch’s engineering teams, in collaboration with Renault specialists, will develop Euro 6 and Euro 7 variants, for a production from 2025.
Under the terms of this agreement, Punch will be able to buy, use and sell the current and future diesels of Renault. “This is concrete proof of the relevance of the Horse project, which opens up new market opportunities. Sharing skills and investments is essential to develop low-emission combustion engines that meet future European regulations and provide our customers with best-in-class solutions, while reducing the impact on the environment,” said Gilles. PUNCH, the Belgian giant
Punch Torino is the former diesel engine design and development center of the General Motors group. It has been 100% owned since February 2020 by the Belgian group “Punch” with the Dumarey family at the helm. It employs 1,750 people at seven sites in Europe and Asia with an annual turnover of more than 650 million euros. Punch group supplies not only diesel engines but also transmissions as well as fuel cells through its subsidiary Punch Hydrocells. With this agreement, the two partners hope to lay the foundations for future cooperation in this field.
