Renault Group’s Expansion in Morocco: Towards a Global Automotive Powerhouse

This week, Morocco is in the spotlight for Renault Group! A major industrial platform of the group and undisputed leader on the national market, Renault Group Maroc welcomed the Chairman of the Board of Directors, Jean-Dominique Senard, the Managing Director, Luca de Meo, the board of directors and members of the management committee of the group.

Invited to the opening session of the Annual Meetings of the World Bank and the IMF (International Monetary Fund) on October 9 in Marrakech, Luca de Meo spoke as part of the sequence dedicated to investment “Morocco, a privileged Land for private investment. Luca de Meo shared his vision of the global automotive industry, the rich and positive experience of the group in the Kingdom and the group’s development prospects in Morocco.

Today, Morocco is Renault Group’s second largest production country globally, representing 17% of the group’s global sales. Luca De Meo also announced that the group’s production capacity in Morocco will be increased to 500,000 vehicles per year by 2025.

Furthermore, the Renault Group board of directors was held for the first time in Morocco, at the Tangier factory. Accompanied by members of the group’s management committee, the board representatives were able to discover the Tangier factory, the largest automobile factory in Africa and the Mena region and flagship of the Moroccan automobile industry, and meet the teams.

The opportunity to concretely measure the group’s commitment to Morocco, the level of performance of the factory and the pride of the Moroccan teams.

The Kingdom of Morocco is at the heart of Renault Group’s international strategy, with 86% of the production of its two factories exported to 71 destinations, a local integration rate (excluding mechanics) of 65.2%, local sourcing of 1 .86 billion euros in 2022 and a target, by 2030, of 3 billion euros in local sourcing and an 80% local integration rate.

Relying on a high level of performance and teams at the highest level, Renault Group intends to develop Morocco as a talent center with a digital hub (Renault Digital Maroc) and new strategic skills around software, engineering or again of the circular economy.
