Global car sales by French automotive group Renault fell 5.9% in 2022, to 2.05 million vehicles, according to a press release released on Wednesday.

During the year 2022, the five main markets of the group were France, Germany, Italy, Türkiye and Brazil.

While Renault’s sales totaled 1.4 million vehicles in 2022, down 9.4% on an annual basis, sales of Dacia, the Romanian car manufacturer, owned by the French group, amounted to 573 837 vehicles in 2022, with an increase of 6.8%.

According to data from the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), passenger car registrations (all brands combined) in the EU fell by 4.6% last year, on an annual basis.

Due to the supply problems, which particularly affects the semiconductor sector, resulting from the measures taken once morest the coronavirus pandemic in China, many sectors have reduced their production activities during the year 2022, and the sector automobile was no exception in this regard.

Rising prices, among other global crises, such as the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, have also affected the vehicle sales sector globally.
