Several dozen owners of vehicles from the car manufacturer Renault have announced that they are filing a complaint for “aggravated deception, deceptive commercial practices” but also “fraud, destruction, damage and deterioration dangerous to people and endangering the lives of others” reveals Le Parisian this Thursday, June 1st.

Renault soon to be targeted by a large-scale legal action? According to information from Parisian, negotiations between the group and 1,782 of its customers failed. As a result, several dozen of them are preparing to file a criminal complaint this Monday, June 5.

Engine breakage, overconsumption of oil or even premature wear are among the problems noted by the complainants. Many models of the brand are concerned: Clio IV, Renault Captur, Kadjar, Mégane 3, Scénic 3, Dacia Duster…

“It’s up to the customer”

“We regret that Renault continues to manage these failures on a case-by-case basis when the group has known of these defects for a long time, and that it has not organized a recall campaign”, underlines one of the complainants quoted by our colleagues.

For its part, Renault Group claims to have “never stopped examining the requests sent to it. 93% of the customer cases identified in this file have already been taken care of.”

“People are only offered, at best, only very partial coverage of their repairs, and at worst, nothing at all, on the grounds of faulty maintenance: non-compliance with the schedule, emptying outside the network builder…”, corrects Maud Perdriel-Vaissière, one of the lawyers interviewed by The Parisian.

“It’s at the head of the customer, and according to the news, abounds a customer of the car manufacturer. The levels of support are better when Renault finds itself under fire from critics.” The showdown between Renault and its customers is here to stay.
