Today’s news comes on the heels of January 11 Blog post The Humble Bundle announced that it will make changes to Humble Choice to make the paid service “easier” for members. Subscribers will no longer choose a number of games to keep each month; Instead, they will still keep all of the monthly games.

In addition, a new game bundle called “Humble Games Collection” will be available to existing subscribers. If this sounds exactly like Trove, you’re not wrong, and the company says “a lot” of Trove games will end up in the new collection. As for the fate of Trove, there is no clear word yet.

However, part of Humble Choice’s newfound “simplicity” is the introduction of a new Windows-only client required to access member benefits, including the Humble Games suite. It doesn’t take a huge step to come to the conclusion that Choice subscribers lose access to the Mac and Linux versions of Trove games because the service’s new client only works on Windows.

Removing the Mac and Linux versions of the games is the latest in a series of moves that have left many viewers unhappy. Last July, modest package It doubled its previously stated intention Determines how much customers can donate to charities while purchasing games. In the past, customers might donate 100% of their purchases to charity, but Humble Bundle now takes 15-30% of every sale.

With today’s announcement, some Reddit gamers who prefer Mac and Linux games feel left behind. For some, removing Mac and Linux games from Trove/Humble Games Collection goes once morest the Humble Bundle’s advertisement itself as a storefront where players can “download and keep games forever”. While some Redditors wonder if they’ll choose to stay or cancel their subscriptions in February, others are seeing the latest Humble Bundle update. “The last nail in the coffin” for their time with the service / store.

Since Humble’s core features have moved away from standalone packages, I no longer see it as a champion of Linux games. Same goes for free DRM, I look at itch.io first and then GOG.com, Humble is no longer part of that equation. It was already clear to me that their vision of the future of video games did not match mine. This movement on their part only reinforced this idea.

Kotaku I’ve reached out to Humble Bundle for comment, but no response at time of publication.
