The ad honorem president of the National Sports Institute of El Salvador (INDES), Yamil Bukele, announced that as part of the remodeling of the Jorge Mágico González Stadium, a second Olympic pool will be built.
“Currently there is a pedagogical pool and an Olympic one, so we are going to eliminate the pedagogical one to optimize the space and a new Olympic pool will be built that will serve for teaching and high competitions,” the official said today in an interview on local television.
Yamil also referred to the demolition work on the stands and other areas of the stadium, to readapt the facilities so that they meet the minimum requirements needed for the 2023 Central American and Caribbean Games.
“We have to carry out a total intervention at the Jorge El Mágico González stadium, because people can see the venue from the outside, but the foundations are useless, the field is in poor condition, the track is also useless,” he added.
The remodeling, which is expected to be completed in February 2023 with an investment of $22 million, also includes the construction of a museum in honor of the best soccer player El Salvador has ever had, he confirmed.
